Our Story
Decades in the Making
The Dream
It started with a simple belief 35 years ago: Tasmania deserved a golf course to match its natural beauty. Not hidden away, but accessible to all who love the game. Mat Goggin, professional golfer and proud Tasmanian, saw potential for incredible golf where others saw only coastal dunes.
For decades, these dunes kept their secret. A forgotten peninsula, covered with all but impenetrable plantation pine forest. But underneath lay the bones of a world-class golf course. It has been fifteen years since Mat first had a spark of inspiration that maybe, just maybe, he could build something special here.
That’s how long it took to navigate approvals, environmental considerations, and the thousand details that separate dreams from reality. Like the Tasmanian tiger that symbolises our spirit, we needed perseverance, strength and fierce determination.
”Our logo of the Tasmanian tiger is no mere design. It's a reminder of what it took – patience, resilience, and passion – to bring 7 Mile Golf to life.
